The Junior University Programme offered Oldham Schools’ year 10 students the chance to experience ‘Life at University’ by visiting the University Campus Oldham for lectures in a choice of subjects.
University Campus is part of the University of Huddersfield and offers a range of Degree and Higher Education courses.
Students from 8 local secondary schools attended lectures in Law, Construction, Multimedia Games Design and Performance.
Attendees were from Grange, Kaskenmoor, The Radclyffe School, Saddleworth, South Chadderton, Counthill, Failsworth and The Bluecoat School.
Students worked alongside each other during the lectures and the atmosphere was relaxed as students demonstrated their ability to work as part of a team.
The students really enjoyed their visit and their behaviour was exemplary. They were a credit to themselves, their schools and their parents.
The Junior University offers a wide range of activities all designed to enable Oldham’s students to realise their full potential and is available to all of Oldham’s schools, school sixth forms and both colleges.
The days were a great success and will be running again next year.
