Geography is unique in bridging the social sciences and humanities (Human Geography) with its understanding of the dynamics of societies, cultures and behaviour, and the environmental sciences (Physical Geography) and its understanding of physical landscapes and the dynamics of environmental processes acting at the Earth’s surface. The interaction between people and the environment and its resources is one of the areas that lies at the heart of the discipline and is essential to the understanding and the management of the world today.
