As part of the Junior University Project, students initially mentored in year 11 are given the opportunity to see a JU Mentor once they have made the transition to post 16 studies.  As a result mentors spent a week in The Oldham College conducting interviews and catching up with students to ensure that they were enjoying College and were coping with the transition from school.

The visit was a joint event and the JU Team worked closely with The Oldham College Learning Mentor Team to ensure that students identified to be having difficulties could be offered appropriate future support.

The JU mentors were given a warm welcome by the College and students, and were provided with a room in which to carry out one to one interviews.  Those students that came to their appointments found the experience very useful and were encouraged by the mentors continued interest in their progress.

The mentors thoroughly enjoyed seeing students again and were happy to see how well they were doing with their chosen courses.
