Becky with competition winner Danny

On the 19th February we launched our Arctic Monkeys competition in conjunction with The Oldham Evening Chronicle and Millenium Concert Travel. The competition offered JU users the chance to win 2 tickets for the upcoming Arctic Monkeys concert at Old Trafford cricket ground.

We asked: what was the name of the sculpture situated in St George's Square, Oldham.

The correct answer was of course “HERE”.

Well done to all those who submitted the correct answer, but as always there had to be only one winner.

Out of 308 entrants Danny Garforth of Counthill School was our lucky winner. So well done Danny, enjoy the concert!

Danny entered the competition whilst on a visit to the sixth form college which had been organised by JU mentor Becky Rodgers.

Danny said “We had been shown around the college and had done some memory revision activities; we were then taken into one of the Junior University centres where we got the chance to have a look around the JU website and enter the competition. At first I wasn’t sure what the answer was but I logged onto the JU forum and found some extra clues which helped me work out the answer.”

Danny is currently in his final year of school and plans to go onto college to study an IT practitioner’s course, Danny added “the help and support I have received from Becky and Emma (Oldham connexions) has been brilliant, it would have been a lot harder without them.

The JU team would like to thank the Oldham Evening Chronicle and Millenium Concert Travel for all their support and their kind donation of the Arctic Monkeys tickets.

The next competition will begin on 26th March; check back soon to see what fantastic prize is on offer.
