Hexagon Jump Rules

1. You must start with both feet in the middle of the hexagon.
2. On the command ‘go’ time starts.
3. You must jump forwards with both feet crossing line 1 (not on the line) while remaining facing forwards.
4. Then you jump forwards with both feet back into the hexagon still remaining facing the same way.
5. Repeat the process for lines 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
6. Time stops when you place both feet back into the hexagon after crossing line 6.
7. You can go either clockwise or anti clockwise – your choice.
8. You have the best of two goes.
9. The time is recorded from the word ‘go’ to the point where you place both feet back into the hexagon from crossing line 6.

Practice Coaching points
1. Ready Position. 1. Ready Position.
a. Practice the ready position on the spot – gentle jumping. a. On your toes not your heels.
b. Get someone to do the same in front, but move off the spot. b. Knees slightly bent.
c. You must try to shadow their movements as quickly as you can. c. Hands out ready for balance.
 
Practice Coaching points
2. Line jumping. a. While doing all these drills remain in the ready position.
a. Place a series of lines using chalk or tape on the floor about 50 cm apart.    
b. Practice gentle jumping forwards over these lines.    
c. Repeat but get someone to time you – try to beat your score    
d. Practice gentle jumping towards your dominant side over these lines.    
e. Repeat but get someone to time you – try to beat your score    
f. Practice gentle jumping towards your non-dominant side over these lines.    
g. Repeat but get someone to time you – try to beat your score    
h. Practice gentle jumping backwards over these lines    
I. Repeat but get someone to time you – try to beat your score.    
j. You could get someone to shout out Forwards, Backwards, Left or Right to you or use hands signals.
