Context:

UNIT 1: Families and Households – Social Construction of childhood.

Aims:

  • To examine the idea of social construction
  • To look at cross-cultural evidence
  • To look at western ideas of childhood

Learning outcomes (objectives of session) :

  • Able to define what social construction means
  • Be able to explain what the modern idea of childhood is about
  • Be able to give examples of cross-cultural evidence

Differentiation and learning styles (please refer to how the more able will be stretched) :

  • Visual (PowerPoint), Auditory (discussion & questioning), Kinaesthetic (activities)
  • Assertive questions
  • Mastery tasks (true/false) & Developmental tasks ( newspaper article) for the more able

How ILT will be used during the session to enhance learning :

  • ILT will be used in this session in the form of PowerPoint and interactive activities on the intranet. The outcome of this is to enhance students ILT skills.

Conclusion to the lesson 10 minutes Manage ‘True or false’ activity on cross-cultural evidence and then recap over key points and objectives Answer ‘true or false’ questions on handout /intranet and listen and respond to recap ‘true or false’ activity on handout or intranet Checking work during activity and asking assertive questions at the end to summarise and recap
